THE Provincial Health Office (PHO) reminded Ilonggos to eat and drink moderately amid the holiday celebrations.
Dr. Patricia Grace Trabado, PHO chief, said food and drinks will flood during Christmas parties, family gatherings, and year-end feats.
She warned the public against binge eating and too much alcohol intake, especially those who are suffering from hypertension and diabetes.
“Ang mga tawo nga may high blood, may diabetes , madamo guid ‘ya subong sang mga sweets, dessert, syempre mga baboy, mga tambokso in moderations lang,” she said.
Trabado reminded persons with lifestyle ailments to always take their maintenance medications.
“Kon ikaw may masakit isipon mo lang eh nga ikaw man mismo ma-suffer kon pabay-an ang imo kaugalingon,” Trabado said.
Exercise is also important to burn extra calories from too much food intake.
Since Filipinos love to celebrate and eat at home, it is important to make sure that food is prepared carefully.
Trabado urged the public to ensure cleanliness and freshness of food prepared and to properly store leftovers.
As to water sources, Trabado said the public should be cautious in drinking tap water, especially those who live in barangays.
“Tan-awa subong ang tiempo kon kaisa naga-ulan-ulan man so ang chlorination sang aton water especially sa mga barangay gina-encourage naton to maintain nga safe ang water nga gina-inum naton,” she said.
