SJCS, ICBC bag first win in alumni cage games

THE alumni basketball teams of San Jose Catholic School (SJCS) and ICBC School opened the 2nd PH Sports Inter-school Alumni 40 and Up Basketball Tournament with upset victories at the PH Sports Hub of Gaisano City in LaPaz, Iloilo City, Dec. 18, 2018.

In the first game, ICBC survived the gritty Western Institute of Technology (WIT), 67-56.

SJCS blasted Iloilo National High School (INHS in a scintillating clash, 60-49.

The University of San Agustin (USA)-Binalot also pulled off their first win after pounding USA-Clean Up, 55-44.

Thirteen 13 teams are competing in the month long basketball tournament.

In the high school category, the contesting teams are University of San Agustin (USA) High School A and B, San Jose Catholic School (SJCS), Sta. Maria-Ateneo de Iloilo, Sun Yat Sen High School (SYSHS), Iloilo National High School (INHS), and Central Philippine University (CPU).

In the college division, the participating teams are University of Iloilo (UI), CPU, Iloilo Doctor’s College (IDC), and Cabalum Western College (CWC).

Organized by Sherlock Chan of PH Sports Hub Gym, the tournament aims to gather alumni of various schools and universities in Iloilo for an exciting basketball bonanza. It also develops their sportsmanship and camaraderie.

Meanwhile, in the ongoing Regional Inter-school Sports League, St. Robert’s International Academy (SRIA) Panda Rockets defeated USA, 82-67, at the Iloilo Sports Complex (ISC) covered gym, Dec. 19.

Iloilo also survived Negros Selection in boys’ basketball, 76-73.
